Religious Fundamentalism Can Create Problems

Religious groups can easily justify their actions by using religious text to benefit and promote their beliefs. The Muslims can sling quotes out of the Quran to justify their treatment towards women as second-class or even third class citizens in society, often removing certain rights from them because they weren't born men.

Shouldn't these women be treated equally. This is where religious fundamentalism evolves into religious fanaticism.

Christians can often use the same tactics to justify their beliefs and Christianity. This list goes on and on and has created hardships in the past on some people in our civilizations and will continue to do so in the future. As long as people continue to turn a blind eye to evil religious and government leaders, atrocities will take place and some of them will even be supported by those who eventually will become accused are victims of their own wrongdoings.

Does anyone remember the Ku Klux Klan? If you live in the south eastern part of the United States, there is a very good chance that you have heard of them or even know someone who belongs to this organization. The Ku Klux Klan was responsible for hanging African Americans throughout the early 1900s to prove that the white race was superior to the race of black people. Their religious beliefs fueled them with righteousness.

If this going on anywhere in the world today, may be issues about abortion or gay marriage. It seems like an oxymoron, if we allow gay people to get married, we won't have to worry about the abortion issue.

Some Christians, but most Americans look at this as a shameful part of our American heritage. It's not something that most Americans would ever support today. I would like to point something out about the Ku Klux Klan, they started out as a Christian organization and made examples out of other white people who weren't conforming to their ideal Christian society.

There are stories of people that abused their wives and the Ku Klux Klan set them straight, one way or another. If it required beating the crap out of them or killing them, something needed to be done and they are morally obligated to perform the task as Christians. These people took their Christian beliefs to an extreme.

When are we as a country and the world going to start fighting religious fundamentalism at its core and stop the atrocities that are going on today, using religion to justify their wrongdoings.

Environment Friendly Products

The hottest issue that has captured the attention of everyone across the globe is the issue of Global Warming. After scrutinizing different researches and observations, it has been concluded that the overall temperature of the Earth is rising. Solid scientific findings have turned it from a mere theory to a harsh reality. And the worst part of this is that the bad effects of rising temperatures on eco-systems have already started to appear.

In a global movement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere many initiatives are being taken both at private and government level. Many developed nations in the world have already started producing energy from eco-friendly means like solar, wind and thermal power. All these environment friendly sources of energy are also called green energy or green technology. With the use of green technology, efforts are underway to reduce the utilization of fossil fuels to produce energy. Several 'Green Technologies' like water purification, recycling, sewerage and solid waste treatment and renewable energy are being successfully employed to achieve goals.

Many worldwide and global organizations are working with dedication in order to conserve our environment reduce the effects of Global Warming. But as an individual, you can also contribute by not contributing towards Global Warming. Several environmental organizations are promoting the use of energy saving and eco-friendly products. By choosing these 'Green products' and refusing to use the old products which posed a threat to the atmosphere, each individual can also play a significant role.

Most manufacturing companies have started to produce eco-friendly and Green products for customers in order to become a part of the solution. Eco-Friendly cars also known as 'hybrid cars' are being manufactured on a limited scale to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Similarly many Environment friendly electronics and home appliances are available in the markets which are also affordable. These Green electronics have their power sources in solar and thermal power which is perfectly safe for environment.

Green products like solar chargers and energy saver bulbs not only give better results by using less energy but they are also low-cost. Water saving spout is a great alternative to a normal tap, as it hugely reduces the waste of water. Its thermal censors allow the water to flow only when a human hand is under it and helps save up to 70% of normal water usage. Other green electronics include environmental air and water filters, solar battery chargers, energy saving kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners and other home appliances that use less energy.

Each and every individual, irrespective of race and nationality must unite and contribute to reduce Global Warming. Even if we cannot make a big contribution, by ensuring the use of Green products we can at least cease to be a part of the problem. The threat that Global Warming poses is in fact directed towards each and every human and animal living on Earth as without it humans cannot exist. By adopting Green living we can help save the Earth, which is by far the most beautiful place in the whole Universe.

It's Not Easy Being a Green Home

Green building and green homes are terms that get bandied about pretty liberally these days. Quite often, what passes for green makes strides in one area while backtracking in another. If we're really keen on going green these days, we'll need to look beyond labels to find out if what we're buying will truly benefit the environment. Read on for a run-down of the four biggest magnets for the "green home" label and some of the noxious realities that lurk within:

Recycled Materials

Recycled building products may be considered green because they conserve resources, raw materials and turn post consumer or industrial waste into a valuable and useable resource. These benefits can be nullified however if producing the recycled product requires an undue amount of energy consumption, creates pollution or if the final product leeches toxins into the environment. Rubber tiles for instance put old tires to good use giving them green kudos but when used in an enclosed environment they'll leak unhealthy chemicals into the air that are decidedly not green.

Conservation of Natural Resources

Building products that use less material than their predecessors, are rapidly renewable or have a high durability factor make the green list because they conserve natural resources. But like recycled products, products that conserve resources may also have qualities or histories that are notoriously not green. For example MDF board can be made from almost any quality wood including sawmill off-cuts and uses almost 100% of the wood in the final product. The result is that an MDF board makes more complete use of natural resources than a natural wood board. But if it has been pressed with urea formaldehyde, as it typically is, it will off-gas and working with it can make you sick. MDF also has a shorter lifespan and less water resistance than natural wood products which means it will need to be replaced sooner and require the use of even more resources.

Clean Air

Natural materials that don't pollute the environment or leech toxins are legendary for getting green points and keeping it clean. Wood, stone, slate, marble and plant products, for example, don't require long chains of chemical processing or release cancerous fumes into the lived environment. Natural, minimally processed materials are simply healthier to live with and therefore green. These benefits are eliminated, however, if harvesting, extracting or transporting the materials creates pollution, requires a huge amount of resources or depletes a resource faster than it can be renewed.

Energy Efficiency

Products that affect energy consumption and water use on a day to day basis stand to effect the biggest environmental impact of all materials that go into a home. Those who wish to be truly green will make sure that operating their home requires minimum amounts of energy and water. Properly insulated walls, windows and doors minimize the amount of energy required to heat and cool a building and therefore have a favorable impact on the environment and are fortunately fairly easy to attain. But how will you generate heat and power? Unfortunately, most of us will have to opt for some sort of fossil fuel or electric power limiting our "green" energy options to those that focus on using as few resources as possible rather than renewable resources like solar power and wind power that don't need to be mined or transported and create no pollution.

Clearly, it's not easy being green. Though making strides toward reducing our impact on the environment by building and buying green homes is clearly one of the best places to start, it's important to educate ourselves if we want to do it right. Green isn't just something we buy, it's a careful balance between conservation, low pollution and sustainability.

Are You Considering DIY Solar Power Or Using Solar Energy For Homes?

We are all trying to find ways to save money in today's economy. Our gas and electric bills seem to keep climbing and climbing with no way to stop it. One of the best ways to save money on your bill is to install solar panels in your home.

By installing solar panels in your home, you will be able to drastically reduce your billing costs. If you are to decide to do this yourself instead of hiring a company to come out and do it for you, there are a few things that you need to consider before taking on such a project.

For one, will your roof support the weight of the project that you are about to embark upon. You will also want to make sure that the side of the roof you are considering for the installation is in the direct sunlight for at least and no less than 6 hours. If it is not, the solar panels will not do you any good and you have wasted your time and money as well.

After doing an adequate amount of research on companies that provide solar panels, you will want to ask a lot of questions of them as well. Do they offer installation support, phone and technical support and do they have a warranty on their product are some of the most important questions that you should be asking.

The cost of installing solar panels into your home is not cheap. But, if you think outside the box at the savings you are going to be getting in the long run, you will realize that all of the hard work and the cost are going to be worth it in the long run. Some people even create enough electricity that they contribute to the power grid and get paid for it. There are definite cost savings right from the start when you use solar energy for your home.

Remember, it is important to do a lot of research on do it yourself installation of solar panels. This is not an easy task that you will be taking upon yourself by any means. This could be one of the smartest money saving moves that you can make for your home and your pocket.

But, make sure that it is the right decision for you before you begin. Nowadays there are so many great online resources available to show the homeowner what is involved and how to purchase and install all the equipment necessary for a green house using alternative energy sources.

If you are thinking of putting solar power panels on your house you first need to do the research and get the right resources to make sure it works the way you plan. Preparation For a Disaster

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods; we have become a world of natural disasters. As you plan on building your new home, now is the time to plan and prepare for the natural disasters that can occur in your life. We will look at some ways to prepare for this event.

Walls of the House

For the best protection against disaster causing winds, use concrete walls such as the type that uses the method proven by the Department of Energy to also be the most energy efficient method of construction. Walls that have concrete on the interior of the wall and the exterior of the wall while having EPS foam in the middle of the wall. The DOE refers to these walls as C-I-C (concrete-insulation-concrete.) Normally 150 mph winds create less than 50 psf pressure on the walls. This method of construction C-I-C can easily be designed to provide 160 psf pressure resistance with up to 27' tall walls. The pressure the walls have to resist in shear will be less than 8,000 lbs. in just about every situation. The C-I-C walls provide 12,000 lbs. in a little 4' area of solid wall. This wall can resist over 2 1/2 times the force of 150 MPH winds. This type wall makes it superior in strength, termite resistance, fire resistance, energy efficiency, sustainability, and is considered a green product.

Installation of Shutters

The next level of protection is the construction of shutters to place over the windows. The best level of protection requires that the shutter can resist impact without penetration of the shutter and not break the glass that the shutter is protecting. Materials to use to construct shutters are polycarbonate materials and plywood. Polycarbonate shutters are transparent and will allow light to enter the room if the power is off, however, the polycarbonate materials can be expensive. If you decide to use plywood, the size of the plywood that will give you the best protection is " thick.

Install Protective Doors

The best types of doors that may withstand the high pressure of hurricanes and high winds are all metal doors or solid wood doors. If you have other kinds of doors, the best protection is to install shutters over the doors.

Garage Doors

If you have seen pictures after tornadoes or hurricanes have gone through an area, either garage doors are nonexistent or they are buckled. Part of the reason you see so much damage is because of the width of the door. Some of the ways to protect garage doors are to install a hurricane proof door or construct a shutter system. The shutter systems that are created for garage doors are known as wind pressure and impact rated system. The systems that protect garage doors offer a system of braces that brace the garage panels both vertically and horizontally.

I wanted to include the next two steps, because they should be mentioned and may not necessarily used during the construction phase, but should be remembered for possible uses.

Silicon Caulk

The caulking is good to apply on any outside wall openings. Some of the instances that you might need this are for outside vents, electrical outlets, or where cables and pipes are located.

Duct Tape

This is the one product that I always claim has a thousand and one uses. If you are aware that a storm is coming, you may want to duct your clothes dryer vent and any other vents.

In conclusion, we have looked at some aspects to take a look at when getting ready to build a new home. If you implement some of these suggestions as you build your home, you can have the assurance that you and your family will be protected before the event occurs.
